2023 GRAMMY® nominated trumpeter and composer Ambrose Akinmusire (pronounced ah-kin-MOO-sir-ee) has paradoxically situated himself in both the center and the periphery of jazz, most recently emerging in classical and hip hop circles.  Recently named the Top Trumpeter in DownBeat’s 2022 Critics Poll Awards, he is a generational talent expected to be a contemporary jazz leader for decades to come.  2023 GRAMMY® nominee for “Rounds (Live),” Best Improvised Jazz Solo.  Ambrose will be releasing 3 new albums in 2023 (Nonesuch Records) including his new all-star ensemble Owl Song featuring guitar pioneer Bill Frisell and the grooving New Orleans drummer Herlin Riley.
